Reimagining The User Experience

What exactly do we mean by “reimagine”?

For a long time now, DeFi development has appeared to many as if remaining stagnant. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth: The DeFi of today and tomorrow is incomparable to that of yesterday.

We say that, but on what grounds? Let’s take a quick look at some the problems Archetype is aiming to solve with intents, account abstraction and other modern tooling:

1. Complexity: DeFi platforms often have complex interfaces and require a significant amount of knowledge about blockchain technology.

2. User Experience: The complexity of DeFi directly translates to a worse experience for both new and old users.

3. Fractionalized Products: The products and tooling generally available inside a single centralized exchange are spread out far and wide inside different protocols in DeFi. Archetype will natively integrate options, and in time, host every essential DeFi primitive inside one front-end.

4. High Transaction Costs: At times, high gas fees cause DeFi to become unusable, hence Archetype will see its beginnings on Arbitrum.

The inherent complexity and friction of DeFi products will be natively abstracted away for new users visiting Archetype.

As with Premia Blue, we’re placing heavy emphasis on the user experience while developing Archetype — the endgame isn’t just a run of the mill DeFi protocol, but an archetypical, highly interoperable all-in-one DeFi onboarding suite.

Now, back to the basics. What’s at the very core of DeFi primitives? Permissionless swaps. Archetype aggregates the most used DEXs on the current chain (initially Arbitrum only) to provide optimal pricing.

Additionally, Archetype provides a novel feature called Price Protection^(TBD). When swapping tokens, Price Protection allows users to pay a small fee in exchange for insurance on the received asset.

For example, a user swapping from WETH to WBTC can choose to include Price Protection for one week before completing their swap. If WBTC crashes in price shortly after, their downside will be reduced (or in some cases, even make a profit!)

Behind the curtains, Price Protection is simply Premia’s back-end directly applied to Archetype’s native swaps — the first derivative in line to be integrated with the platform.
