Getting Started on Archetype
Everything about setting up a Smart Account, depositing tokens, and performing swaps using Price Protection.
Welcome to Archetype — the easiest way to experience swaps!
Now that you've found the leading interface for on-chain finance on Arbitrum, it's time to set up and get started.
In this article, we'll take you through the basics of Archetype – setting up a Smart Account, bridging/depositing some funds, and performing a swap using Price Protection.
Let's get to it!
There are two ways to set up an account on Archetype – either with a browser wallet (EOA), or a social account like Google or Apple. We'll cover social logins separately, as logging in with your browser wallet is as simple as connecting it normally to Archetype.
Step 1: Getting Started
Archetype can be used with browser wallets and Smart Accounts.
However, upcoming features (and Price Protection) are only available with Smart Accounts, which is why you should probably deploy one. It’s connected to your browser wallet and totally free to use!
First and foremost, make your way to app.archetype.blue. Upon your first visit, the app should look a little like this:
Click on ‘Get Started’, and choose your experience level. Don’t worry, you can easily unlock the full feature-set later inside the settings! After this step, it’s time to sign up — either with a social account or a browser wallet.
First, choose the social account you wish to sign up with. Remember to not use a throw-away account, as the wallet will be directly tied to your social account.
Your wallet has now been created. The next step is to deploy a Smart Account by clicking on the top-right corner of the screen where it says “Unlock Smart Features”.
Now you can choose a name for your Smart Account. This comes in handy when using multiple accounts.
Deploying a Smart Account will only take a couple of seconds. Once your account has been deployed, you’ll need to fund it before you can start swapping.
Step 2: Funding a Smart Account
There are two ways to fund an account: sending tokens to the account on Arbitrum, or bridging funds to Arbitrum on your connected wallet. If you’re using a newly created wallet, you’ll have to deposit from a separate wallet or exchange.
Step 3: Swapping with Price Protection
After you’ve deposited some funds, you can get to swapping. Start by choosing the tokens you wish to swap. Tokens with Price Protection are visible at the top of the list.
In this case, I’ll swap some ETH for SOL using a 1-week Price Protection deadline. To learn more about Price Protection, see this article.
Next, click on ‘Review Trade’ to see the details of your swap. As a sidenote, slippage can be adjusted in the settings.
Once you’ve approved the transaction, the transaction will be queued. Once successful, you’ll see a pop-up that looks a little like this. You can choose to make a new swap or view your protection inside the portfolio tab.
The portfolio shows you everything, and gives you access to almost anything — your address for receiving tokens, a transfer tool, and the in-app bridge.
That’s it, you’re done with your first protected swap!
