What is Active Price Protection?

In essence, active Price Protection is a convenient tool that allows you to purchase protection for a specified amount of a token. It automatically calculates and buys the necessary options to provide that protection, so you can safeguard your assets without getting into the nitty-gritty of options trading. All gain with none of the hassle.

Not Just Price Protection

Similar to Price Protection that we all know and love (to swap with), it’s an optional feature that can protect you from losing money if activated. However, there are two key differences between them:

1. While Price Protection is always bundled with a swap, you can now purchase it on its own.

2. Previously, Price Protection only shielded you from the price going down. Active Protection is now available for both Downside and Upside protection.

What is the Protection Direction?

When you use active Price Protection, you’re getting the protective features of purchasing options, without any of the hassle and lingo. These options can either protect you from the price of a token going down (Downside Protection) or allow you to benefit if the price goes up (Upside Protection).

Downside Protection

If the token’s price falls, your losses are capped, helping you secure your assets.

Upside Protection

If the token’s price increases, you’ll benefit from that rise. Protecc from FOMO, hated rallies, and more!

But how is this possible? Archetype uses Premia Blue’s options engine to enable features like active Price Protection.

What is the Protection Deadline?

Price Protection automatically calculates the appropriate amount of options needed to secure the amount of a token entered by you.

The Protection Deadline is none other than the option’s expiration date. This tells you how long your assets are protected. Once the date passes, the protection ends.

What is the Protection Start Price?

Start price is the price at which your protection kicks in. When you activate this setting, you’ll be able to set the exact price level where your Upside or Downside Protection starts to work.

How Do I Use Active Price Protection?

Technical jargon aside, how do I use it and access all these cool benefits? It’s super simple! Once your wallet is connected on Archetype, open the ‘Protection’ tab.

Here’s where you choose which token you wish to protect and enter the amount. Don’t forget to select your desired direction (Down or Up), expiration, and Strike Price.

All that’s left to do is double-check the details. If they’re correct, click ‘Trade protection’. That’s it!
